High Tech Amazon Biotope Or Beautiful Reef Tank?

I always wanted a Reef tank, but now I've got my planted tank set up I want my next tank to be a Discuss tank. Couldn't care less about the reef.

i would definitely go reef but how small of a tank are we talking here? and what about for the planted? You may have to spend more than what you have for a reef though. I'm going to spend a little over $100 on sand alone i'm sure. After i get my live rock, my total will be well over $1,000 for a tank with just rock in it. and it doesn't seem like i have much to show for it lol..yet. You should've made this a poll to make it easier to keep track of.

i was planning on upgrading my 36 bowfront into a saltwater aquarium and after reading many articles i found that it would cost me 1,000 dollars just in converting the equipment and hardware. stick to amazon and spend the money you would put towards marine to make the amazon look like an award winning show tank.

If you have the money, time, and Strong floor do the reef.

But make sure to read up on saltwater first.

thanks for that BigC, way to put shame on my tank haha ;) nah, they are AMAZING tanks!

what subjects you take mate? what year you in? AS levels or A levels?

also! i would go nano reef :)

and copy BigC's tank exactly muhahahah

500 dollars i think i,ll do amazon first and then reef
have you got the tank? and have you worked out how much each one is going to cost? because if your going Amazon, im guessing you want demanding plants, so you will want pressurised CO2 (over here £120) then some good lighting (£80-120 over here) and then some ferts ($40-$50)

£40-£50 for ferts!!!

£10 gets me a years supply of the dry stuff!
