Hi.
1000033365.jpg

I have two tanks, one blackwater with betta splendens, cardinal tetras, pygmy Cory, bristlenose pleco, and neocaridinas.

I now have a new tank just planted nitrates starting to come down so I'm wondering which fish to keep.

I have naturally soft water and I've given up trying to fight it!
Generally parameters once cycled are
PH 6 (surprisingly stable)
KH 3.5
GH 4

Whatever I do or have in the tank the parameters always generally settle at this.

It's a 2ft cube

I have made a change in the new tank and added two long pieces of non inert rock to see if this changes anything, they can be removed if necessary.
They are back right covering the airline and forming the step, also in there is 1 large inert rock, a few other inert rock, driftwood, weathered debarked apple wood, and a substrate mix of sand gravel and fluval stratum
Anyone have any ideas of anything interesting I could put in there?

You've got so many options with soft water, I sure wish I had that problem. MIne's tougher than a $2 steak.
I suppose it depends...community or species only? If the tanks taller than it is long that makes a difference. Something showy, or more toward the wild side? What are your personal preferences?

Welcome to TFF!

Haha 😆
It's the same in depth width and height 2ft in each direction.
I do like that it is much brighter than my blackwater tank so something that will do well in brighter conditions

Hi & welcome to our forum... :hi:
Well, as already been stated, you've got multiple options in fish choice when having such soft water.

Take a look at Pseudomugil gertrudae. Someone wrote "you can't look at them without smiling.

Beautiful fish that love bright light and sunbathing in my aquarium. The only downside is that they don't live long, but they reproduce with little effort.
