Hi, Ms. Platy here, I'm from Flint, MI and 14 years old. I've had my tank for three years now, and haven't had much trouble with the fish up until recently. See, all of the zebra danios, and glofish in my tank keep getting their upperlobes(top part of caudal fin/tail) torn off, and I've suspected Ms. Platy, my Mosquito fish to be responsible, because he tends to chase the zebras/glofish around, and a past fish that died had its whole caudal fin torn off. That's when I had them in a 5-gallon, but Ms. Platy was the only fish I had with him. Ms. Platy's the biggest fish in my tank, besides one of the 2 cory cats. I was wondering if moving him to the 5-gallon alone would maybe, if he is the one doing it, help him calm down a bit, because I'd hate to have to get rid of him, or to keep him by himself permanetly. Also I was wondering if the danio's/glofish's tails would gorw back.

Welcome to the forum Ms Platy.
A mosquito fish, Gambusia affinis, the ones we call mosquito fish in the US, is a very rough fish. It is not the gentle soul that many other fish that size are. I would also suspect that fish as being the one tearing up the zebras. I am afraid it is going to be a real problem in any tank filled with peaceful, non-aggressive fish.
It is likely that if you remove the Gambusia, the fins and tail of the fish will indeed grow back. Just keep the water very clean by using lots of water changes and let nature take the path to curing your fish.

Thanks, really. I've already got him in my backup tank(5 gallon) and I was planning on finding him a mate. I'll have to see if the zebras/glofish grow back their fins. Thanks again!
