Hi ammonia levels

I was able to get my levels between
.25 and 0, I plan to do another water change tomorrow. I am hoping that will bring everything back to normal.

I have learned that anytime you think ammonia is above 0, you should do a water change as soon as possible. And that day you find out you should do a WC. Because the longer the ammonia sits in there, the more damage it can do.

I did 3 water Changes today, and the fish that survived seem to be doing okay.
I will do another change tomorrow as long as I don't notice anything horrible happening. I watch 8 of my fish die.

How much water are you changing?

If you want to remove ammonia or anything else in the water, you need to do a huge (75-90%) water change and gravel clean the substrate. You need to go through the tank and lift wood, rocks and ornaments and suck all the gunk out. Check for uneaten food and dead fish.
Make sure any new water is free of chlorine/ chloramine before it's added to the tank.

Clean the filter and increase aeration to maximise the oxygen levels in the water.

Sorry for your loss Tdiggy, it always feels bad to lose fish but as long as you find out the reason why you lost them then atleast not all is lost and you gain some knowledge from it
