Hi All! Images Now Included!

hi antony
the yellow fish you have 2 of is labidochromis caeruleus aka yellow lab , which is an african cichlid from lake malawi .
the 1 in the 5th picture is another african cichlid for sure , which species tho im not sure .
the fish in the 2nd from last picture doies indeed look like a convict but id rather see a clearer pic before i commit for sure thats what it is .

the yellow labs will fare better kept in a small group ideally 1 male with 3 females . rocks are the chosen decor for these fish , they belong to a group of african cichlids called mbuna .

i cant advise as to what to do with regards to the other fish as im not sure exactly what they are
Hey thanks for that, that is a great help for us :).
We only have two yellow labs but not sure if they are male or female.

males will have more pronounced black stripes on his fins than the female .

I also just setup a Tropiquarium88! the lighting you have will be fine for low tech plants (basically plants which do not need lots of light or Carbon Dioxide) such as Java Fern, Anubias, Amazon Sword, Java Moss, but I'm not sure how fish from Lake Malawi will get on with plants - i usually only see non planted Malawi tanks so i assume the fish might eat/uproot them normally.

Do you know where we can get a replacement canopy from?
It is a really nice tank like so hoping it's not going to be a problem.

whats broken in yours? my timer was broken so a mate of my dad re-wired the lights so that i put them on seperate timers. The wiring is easy to get to once the lid is unscrewed and not so complicated to re-wire, altough i myself wouldnt of known how! lol

if its something else, i think the only way is to look at aquarium classified websites for spare parts. I dont think they make this model anymore so could be tricky finding the whole hood. I know you can get a new timer for £45 online.
