Ok so i havnt done a water change for nearly 2 weeks i reckon, about 10 days. Water was fine, fish acting as you would expect healthy fish too.

Today i changed about 30l out, about 30-35%. But now my emporor amd buenos aires tetra are at the top of the water. Surely not behaviour you expect after fresh water is put in? Im not too concerned as it always happens, and by tomorrow night they will be acting normal again, just a bit confused. Its the sort of behaviour i expect from bad water conditions.

The only thing i havnt tested recently is ph. Ive got lots of wood in my tank, is it possible after more than a week with no fresh water the ph between my tank and tap has changed enough to bring on this behaviour?

Yeah I'd guess it's just shock

1 from the water chemistry and temperature changing

2 from the water dropping then the water being poured back in So there's a lot of things happening at once

My molly does this after each water change for awhile and then settles back to normal.

This thread is a fish topic and doesn't belong in General Chat. I'll move it to Tropical Discussion.
