Here We Go - Axolotl Eggs

Let's see how we do!!! About 50-75 eggs (Parents are golden albino X leucistic). They seem to be in the first stage of development

Congrats on the eggs. But ummmm that looks like a big loogy Are they encased in some sort of jelly or are the eggs actually transparent?

Each egg is encased in its own membrane - the actual egg is the white thing, the clear gooey stuff around it is the membrane which feeds the egg until it hatches in about a week or two

Oh okay I know nothing about Axolotls, but they are cute. Are they swawn of some that you own?

I have two of my own, but these are ones I bought so I can add to my stock with out inbreeding.

That's really cool. Congrats on your soon to be batch and I look forward to seeing pics of the little guys!

I looked into these little guys earlier and did some research and pricing and what not. Maybe later down the line I'll get one as they are realy really cute.

Oooh, congrats! Wait til they hatch and the fun really begins haha. Very desirable phenotypes too. Could make a fair bit on these

If you haven't already done so, it would be a good idea to take out the ones that haven't developed. They'll only get fungus and infect the good ones

They were laid about 6 days ago so I am going go through and remove any that are not developing and try and get an accurate count

Thank you!!! I had sprained my ankle fairly badly last week and had trouble making it to the tank room so my hubby, somewhat begrudgingly as he isn't a fan of the tanks, did my feedings and said he didn't see anything in the egg tank.

I had actually thought ALL the eggs had gone bad and was carrying it over to the sink to dump it out when I saw them swimming about!

I have been feeding them a mixed diet while I am trying to get my brine shrimp hatched....they are getting boiled egg yolk mixed in a bit of water in a water bottle then shaken vigorously....and a bit of massacred bloodworm bits.

Seems to be working as they are on day 3 since I found them....I am not sure as to the exact night they hatched...they must have been hiding in the water wisteria or my husband didn't look correctly! My first brine shrimp clutch failed so I am started another this morning

They are still doing good! And my wildtype female and golden albino male laid eggs Sunday and they are developing!

Looks like we are going to have many more babies soon!
