Nah mate, the plants look rubbish! The gravel is where it's at!!!

My Anubias has also flowered recently, but the plant started to develop yellow leaves and lose it's shape so i removed it.

That's right.I need more huge bits of wood & rocks in the foreground.

you know you're doing something right when the Anubias flowers :good:

The balance in a tank needs to be quite good for them to flower. They aren't the easiest plant to get to flower contrary to what people say.

ok, serious head for once, think i need a bit of advice/guidance.

I was attempting to just let things grow on a bit & stop fiddling but after a couple of weeks i've started noticing a few things that are starting to worsen so action is needed.

Firstly, several things are starting to show signs of nutrient deficency, translucent leaves, small pin holes (potassium, right?) this is on old growth not the new (yet)

Some of the golden anubias leaves are developing brown edges & some brown hair algae.

Other plants, such as H.Polysperma & swords seem fine, as do the crypts (Tropica & Petchii), in fact the Tropica is putting on decent growth.

Currently running 60W of T8's for 7 hours.

My question is, i obviously need to start dosing weekly ferts. Will TPN alone be enough, considering there's no CO2 addition. What else will help? (excluding CO2)

Do i need to up the plant mass as i've been reducing it slowly over time.

Suggestions more than welcome.

I love this tank!

Not dosing ANY ferts currently? Incredible.

Can't say that for much longer.

Thanks. Did put one of the less used substrates in at setup, 'Tetra Plant complete'.Maybe that's helped. Also, nothing in there is too difficult to keep.

ahhhhh....so there was something feeding them then.

I'm going to bravely venture into a more heavily planted tank and your 'try it and see' approach has persuaded me to do so. I've always been a bit nervy about the EXACT conditions the plants need, when I should really be just giving some of the 'easier' ones a go to see what works.
