Thanks again everyone, well my orange and white one are still alive, they look quite happy but the orange one is still riddled with the white spots so I think we are going to treat them again tomorrow, i'll keep you posted x
I don't know what is happening now, the orange one keeps swimming around and then going and letting itself be sucked against where the water is sucked back in the filter, why is it doing that, any suggestions x
Sometimes she is, sometimes she isn't. We've put some more treatment in but half dose and she's a little calmer now, it just seemed very strange, any ideas x
I'd like to thank everyone who has helped me on this matter. After reading that you should treat your tank with the light off as malachite green can oxygenate if the light is on (pity the woman at the pet shop didn't tell us that when we got the treatment) we did our third treatment with the light off, we've turned the temperature up to 28 instead of 25 and after one evening when we woke up our orange platy looks loads better and has a lot less spots. So my question is, what do we do now, we've treated the tank three times, how do we know if the white spot has gone and whether to treat again in 48 hours? xx
Always best to treat up to a week after the spots have gone.
Glad there an improvement.
Do another dose in 48 hours then, but I would do a gravel vac and water change before you add the med again.
Good luck.
Thanks so much chick, I don't mean to sound thick but how do we vaccum the gravel, we did a 10% water change two days ago, should we do another tomorrow then x
