Help With My Much Larger Tank!

So I have been running a 29 gallon tank with help from this forum for about a year now. Somewhere along the way I picked up a 10 gallon also. Well, I've really given in to my sickness this time and I've just picked up a 90 gallon. I got the tank home, took out all the gravel, and cleaned the tank and gravel with just some warm water. The gravel is back in and I'm waiting now to add support to the floor before I add water and setup. This is where I need the help. What major differences should I know about taking care of a tank this size, as opposed to the smaller tanks I have? I currently have 2 whisper 30-60 power filters. Would I be able to run both of these in the tank? Is there anything else I should consider getting? Thanks for all the help.

90G is a good sized tank! Apart from water changes, it is all a little easier with a bigger tank as the conditions are generally more stable and it takes longer for any levels to build up to a dangerous level, thus giving you more time to solve any problems.

I would look at two external filters though if I were you.

What will the stocking be?

Haven't decided yet. I have to come to an agreement with my wife on that. We were considering some angelfish and I've read they do well with a lot of tetras. Any specific recommendations on the filters?

6 angels, a large shoal of Columbian Tetra (15+) and a large shoal of Cories (15+) would look amazing with some plants and wood.

Not sure what filters you have over there mate. Two Tetratec ex1200s would work well if you can get them.

Or A Fluval Fx5 or 2?

You could go with one FX5. I reckon 2 would be too much as the tank is around 340 litres.

Yeah, I've heard good things about the FX5, although I did go with the TT EX1200 and I cannot fault it!

I am looking at getting an EX1200 for my river tank as the internals I have got are not really enough. Are they as good as people say?

Do you think using both of the whisper filters would be insufficient? I'm just trying to save a little money, but I don't necessarily want to cut corners if my tank will suffer. The guy I bought the tank from was only running 1 of these and a small reptile filter!

We do not have them over this side of the pond but I have just googled them. What you got to think about is water movement through the tank. An external filter or two will have more turnover per hour and will reach down further into the tank to drag the water out. I have no experience with hob filters so can not comment on their ability to turn over deep tanks.
