Help Please...

Hi

Soes anyone have a Rena aquarium with the sockets attached to the inside of the cabinet? I am having trouble understanding the wiring and unable so far to find out - any help gratefully recieved.

Yes i do,not sure if its original,but theres a 4 gang switched socket,screwed onto the side of the cabinet,one plug goes into the mains,the rest of the plugs just simply plug in to the 4 gang...

Thanks have sorted it out now and its up and running!! No details on the thermostat though - I am assumming (hopefully correctly) that it is fully submersible............ I'll let you know if it doesn't go bang LOL

If its a rena,they normally have small numbers written on the top...

Aww thank you - that was kind of you Its a rena heater 200w but if I google it just comes up with the new "smart" ones and this is clearly not. Just filling it now - I dont think I washed my gravel enough though - its very cloudy!

You are helpful Yes I have 2 of them. Tank full now and everything working ok by the looks of it. The Rena xp3 filter that is on there is fairly noisy in comparison to the fluval one I have though.

You might have trapped air in the filter,give the filter a shake and the pipes,if there's air in there,you'll hear it,it usually dislodges the air.

Hopefully the cloudiness will settle,if not do a waterchange,are you doing a fishless cycle?

I am running a fluval 205 which is fully cycled on the tank along with the Rena XP3

I have put media from the 205 and a fluval U5 into the Rena - no fish yet!

Although you might want to put some ammonia (or some food) into the rena tank has you now have mature media/filter but with no fish,the bacteria may start to die off before you put fish in there,has it has nothing to feed on..

Well I was probably going to ask the forum how soon I could do. I have an angel fish and a silver shark who are going in there - is it too soon though?

I added mine about 12 hours after i upgraded,but i didn't put the mature media in the filter until i was ready to put the fish in...

Has long has its heated and all air bubbles that has formed around the tank has gone,it should be ok.although its up to you.

You might be better popping a few flakes into the water,leaving it overnight then add the fish tomorrow all being well.obviously test the water stats if putting food in there.

You could always put a new topic up to be on the safe side,i'm no expert
