Help Please

Pink, I highly suggest that you read the links that I and other members have posted. You really shouldn't be concerned about being able to keep any of your fish. They are all dying. Your newly setup tank is full of poison and it's suffocating your fish. If you "give it a few days" and see how things go then most of them will be dead. You are far too interested in what fish you would be able to keep when really the easy answer is no. If you just read those links then you will understand. What you are doing is cruel to the fish. It's a common mistake made by those who have just come into the hobby. I've done it before and so have many others. But I soon realized that I needed to take back my fish. Please take them back, all of them and learn how to cycle a tank before you are responsible for the death of your fish. I'm sure that is not what you or any of us want.

Hi Pink,

I have only keep fish for a month and I was so disappointed when I learnt that I couldn't just rush out and have loads of fish straight away. I can fully understand that you probably don't want to give up these fish but if I were you I'd take the good advice that has been given from those above and take them all back. If you have a good lfs they will happily take them.

I had my tank set up for 1 week before adding my first fish and then slowly (or so I thought) added more over the following weeks. I think I was lucky and only lost 1 fish to a parasite and 1 due to stress after giving birth but next time I get a new tank I am going to do a 'fishless cycle' and add my fish much more slowly than I did.

It would be far better to take the fish back, clean your tanks and start again. In the long run you'll save money and, more important have far healthier and happier fish and afterall isn't it about the fish and not what you want.

you need to be very careful..........listen to these people<they know> to set up a tank you need to leave it at least 5weeks with no fish in.....maybe 1 to help bacteria form......ive done same as you and lost my fish<all>when fish urinate or poo it raises nitrates etc and at first you tank wont have bacteria to brake this down.........so its poison......take a small sample of water in a clean container to your local fish shop and ask them to test for you....mine does this for free..other shops charge some pennys<dollars>them ask them to inform you on what to do next......it takes time be paitent its worth it in the end........hope this helps......were all he to find out infomation and help if possible.......losing fish is not nice and costly... :alien:
