I put two Orange Chromides in my 40G aquarium three days ago.
This evening I found a dead stiphodon goby. As I looked around the rest of the tank I noticed a bunch of unusual things:
1) Where I usually have about 20-30 Malaysian Trumpet Snails on the glass at any given time, not a one was found. There were a few empty shells on the sand.
2) All seven of my red-nose shrimp were missing. No bodies.
3) My two BBG's are hiding under a large shell, venture out a bit, then bolt back under the shell with any movement. Very unusual for them.
4) The other stiphodon is missing. No body.
My violet goby is in his usual burrow, so nothing unusual there.
I haven't seen any aggressive behaviour from the chromides except chasing and nipping each other a couple times, but not to other fish (not that the others stick around long enough to be caught).
So, is it back to the LFS for my new orange friends? It would be a pity since they are neat and colorful addition, but not if they are going to kill everything in my tank!
