Hi,

I have just come back from my local tropical fish shop and started acclimating my new fish when i realised that i have an odd fish, it think its a tetra but it is on its own as it was in a bag of ottos can someone tell me what to do???

Thanks in advance

Probably best to bag it back up and take it back to the shop (take the receipt, if you still have it) and explain what's happened.

All tetras are shoaling fish, so if you wanted to keep it, you'd have to identify the species and get at least five more to keep it company, and it might not be suitable, either in size or temperament, for the other fish in your tank.

haha!
I am amazed by what LFS will do sometimes.

You should go back there and show them the infiltrator.

It may have been a happy surprise at first, but often these hitch hikers bring heart ache with them. It's like making an impulse buy and finding out later that you don't have the proper size tank, or it is incompatible with your other fish. Also look at it carefully to see if it shows any signs of disease!
