Also how many fish and which type?

Hi, was the tank cycled prior to this happening? or is it a new set up?
hi the tank is approx 14 weeks old so reading the forum i dont think it is fully cycled , and yes i have about 25 fish in there 18 tetras 2 clown loach ( i know its too small ive been told) 5 cories

The tanks severely overstocked. Your filter no coping with the fish load.
For now buy a new filter to cope.
Also I would rehome the clown loaches as the tanks to small for them.
They shouldn't be kept in less than a group of 3.

Wow yes, you REALLY need to return/re-home some of your fish ASAP.
I know it's annoying to have to do, but fish-in cycles are hard at the best of times.

I'd return 8 tetra and the two clown loaches. The Nitrites would come down with the addition of a second filter, but your nitrates will pretty much remain uncontrollable as there are just to many fish in there at the moment.
