Help Needed With New Guinea Pig

i went to my least favorite pet shop today for some frozen bloodworm- least favorite as once i bought 2 mollies off him and the guy "chucked them in a bag" anyway while i was in there i happen to see a 4 ft tank with a huge rabbit and a tiny guinea pig in there, he was sitting so that i could only see hisright hand side, i told the guy i would take him, he put him in a box ( plain brown cardboard with NO bedding or anything!!)anyways i have brought him home fast and put him in a cage and hes been settling in for a few hours so i took him out to cuddle hi, and have noticed theres something wrong with his left eye, its white( the eyeball-- like it could be blind) and also has some discharge coming from it ( colourless) he is opening and closing it and seems otherwise healthy if younger than the 8 weeks he is supposed to be!
theres no way in this world im taking him back to the shop, as i suspect, the man in there would rather take a spade to him than take him to the vet!! i have wiped his eye with a warm wet tea bag ( taught this as a kid- no idea what it does), and hes not in any obvious pain,there is a vet locally,( its closed now) i will call around in the morning and try to get him seen asap, but i am wondering if this could be a simple case of conjuctivitus ,or more serious( with the eyeball being white), i dont have a problem paying the vets bill or anything like that, i just want to make sure i can make him as comfy as possible till he gets there,i just pray that it isnt tooo serious that we have to lose him!
any advice will be more than gratefully taken and acted upon

ps when i said that he looked small for his age i have 2 others that are 8.5 weeks old and they are really filled out and significantly bigger than this new one ( who i have called bean)

try boiled water from thje kettle with a little salt disslved in it thhat usually works for conjunctiivitus

thanks rival and dave, ill wash it now, but on that link you gave me it says - cloudy eye- eye injuries should be treated immediatley to prevent eye loss, think we may be a bit late actually, i have no idea how long he was sitting in the shop, couldnt have been long tho, not more than a couple of days,given his age

I would recommend going to the vets as he could have a infection in it.
The vet will give drops for the eye and some baytril(antibiotics).

oh Emma i was looking for you... had a few questions for you,i havent been able to take him today as my children so nicley gave me a bug!! so have been laid up most of the night and day..ill try to get him there tommorow and let you know how i get on.. heres some of my Q`s

i have 3 males from 2 litters, are they ok together?? (seem to be at the moment)
i am wanting to get a little girl for obvious reasons, and wondering if she has to be kept alone,would i be better getting 2, or will they fight?? ( they would have to share a cage)

hmm cant think of anymore riht no, but im sure i have some,ill keep an eye out for you and ask when i remeber. but thanks for your help and as i said i`ll let you know ho we get on

My old guinea pig had something that looked like that, it was a while ago but pretty sure we took him to the vet and he got eye drops and it went away quite quickly. Good considering he was about 6 or 7 at the time.

just to let you know, yesterday his eye was all better, using tea bags, my mum told me they worked when i was a kid so they will work now, his eye is totally back to normal

we have 3 males and 2 females now ( a lady i know asked us to take hers as her chihuha (sp-little dog) was very agnry with them,but they are all a similar age and they are getting on great, but they have seperate cages, for obvious reasons at the moment,( they are bit young for mating just yet)

I have a few groups of males that get along fine but I have to keep them well away from all the sows as they get grumpy when the can smell the sows in season.
you wont be able to keep a sow in the same cage as the boars or they will def fight
