I have changed my testing kit to the Api freshwater kit. I have looked through the instructions but I don't know which ammonia or nitrate bottles to use.
You use the right amount of drops from bottle number 1 first and then add the right number of drops from bottle 2, making sure you're using the right number of drops and that you've done the right amount of shaking beforehand
For ammonia: add 8 drops to the test tube filled the line. put the cover back on the tube, hold it upside down so it mixes. then add 8 drops from test tube 2. shake a bit and wait for 5 minutes.
For nitrates: add the drops from bottle 1. put the lid on and mix. shake bottle 2 for at LEAST 30 seconds. put the drops in the test tube, and shake the tube with the lid on for a minute. wait a couple of minutes.
Agree with all the other members comments, a tip with bottle 2 of the nitrAte test is to give it a few taps on a hard surface followed by a severe shake before using.
They're fairly simply - and become easier to understand each time you use them. As sad as it sounds they're almost like my best friend in the fish world
