my male ram is chasing my female around the tank and now the female is scared to come out from hiding ontop of the filter. what shouuld i do. he doesnt hurt her or anything. do you think he is trying to breed with her. her belly has not went pinkish so she isnt ready yet. the males colours go fansastic as if he is trying to impress her.
thanks

Could be trying to show her how dominant he is, but if shes not ready or isnt interested, he will give up eventually.

Are you sure you have a male and a female?
If you have 2 males then the dominant one will chase the weaker one around. Female rams have the pink belly but males don't.

here are some pictures of them yesterday when i got them as you can see they probably are male and female

hope this helps

it could be 2 males :(

Alternatively the male is ready to breed and the other one isn't. Female rams can take a bit longer to come into breeding condition. A bit like people I spose. Guys are ready to go anytime but ladies need a bit of wooing :)
Give them a week and see if she gets anymore colour, particularly pink around the belly region. If she doesn't I would look for another female that has a pink belly and add that to the tank. Then see how they act.
