my tank has started its cycle and the ammonia is goin up, i figure i have about 3 weeks to decide what kinda fish i want for it when its done..

can you guys help me decide what would be my best choice?

heres what you might need to know to help.

i am a begginer and this is my first tank ( 55 gallon )

my tank has small to medium plantation with fake plants

i have blue gravel

i have a 200 watt stealth heater ( getting a second one soon )

and for my water test mesurements i couldint tell you to much cuz its not through cycleing,

anything i left out thats important just bring it up.

im not sure if i want a community tank or a tank of one species yet. this tank is a hexagon so it is mor deep then wide.

these are the kinda fish that spark my interest.

guppies
tetras
cichlids
and my most favorite any kind of puffer fish, i really want a puffer. i dont know how hard they are to care for but today in the fish store they had a new shipment of baby spotted green puffers in and i wanted one so bad.

so how should i go about finding my fish. what are you suggestins?

To be honest I would not go for lfs guppys there usually on there last legs when buying them.
If you want to keep guppys I would try and find a breeder of them.
Congo and diamond tetra's are beautiful fish.

so if i had puffers would i only have puffers or could i put them with other fish that arent community as well

ok sounds like i wana go with a community. i would like the idea of having a varity of fish anyway.

so what are some nice easy community fish.

i have heard alot about tetras and danios, but what are some other good fish i could put in there?

well

check out

swordtails , platy very easy to have & to breed -- there all different colors - and get along
if get 1 male to 3 females

Cory get school of 4 or more like very little catfish

danios are good fast little bugers

so now if i decide on one of these i will most likely get groups of them, probly 7 together.

would that be to many to put in a brand new tank at one time?
