Help, Is This Ok?

Hi,

Hope someone can help me, i have just installed my fish tank in the place i wanted it and its a tighter fit than i thought it would be, bascially i wont be able to get access to the sides from the outside, is this ok?

I am trying to upload some pics, but having problems, any help with this please

As long as you dont need to get to the sides you should be fine. The only reason I see to need to get to the outside sides of the tank is to clean it.

Are you using an external filter? If so, then I suggest you attach it all before you move it into place, otherwise you might not be able to get the hoses round, but otherwise looks fine to me.

Yeah i have a Tetratec ex1200. i was ready to throw it all in when it woulndt fit in but juat managed to get it in now.

I think i might use a scraper to clean the sides of the tank

Yeah, that's really tight. Nice tank though! From a practical standpoint you need to realize that water drips and things inevitably will get on the side-outside glass and you may be able to see them when looking through, which could drive some people crazy. On the other hand it might seem a really small thing and you wouldn't care. Just have to think about it.

Its also important to think hard about how difficult it will be to access the back. There's all the tubing coming in and out back there and there's also inside and outside cleaning that will go on back there. Again, its just smart to think hard about it now while the tank is still empty in case you've got a secondary possible location for the tank in mind or otherwise just so you'll accept your situation and be better prepared for it.

Overall its seems not too big a deal and have to admit it does look a nice cosy place for a tank, so good luck.

I have a bit of room at the back, im not going to push it to the back of the wall. Also my unit underneath has no back on it so im going to pass the tubes out the back of there.

Good point about the cleaning of the outside, i think i could prob get a spatula of somesort with a wragg on it to clean the outer glass.

I think i'm just going to go for it and see what happens.

Yeah, good idea. You could probably stretch a thin glass-cleaning sheet or rag over a spatula type thing and push it back and forth at the sides. Sounds like you're set ok for getting at the back from above and below. Good luck and show us some more of your good pictures from time to time!
