evening all ive just got home from work and noticed than my filter had stopped , ive changed fuse and still nothing :( how long will my tank be ok without the filter running ? and is there anything i can do to aid it ?? Please help

Try cleaning the impeller and where it sits. Pull the impeller out and rinse it off under the faucet. If the housing is water proof, do the same, if not use cotton swabs to clean it out as best as possible.
If this doesn't work and you do need a new filter, get one ASAP. How long your tank will be ok, I can't tell you, there are to many variables. Adding airstones to aid in oxygen exchange will help your fish from suffocating. Partial water changes once a day will help keep ammonia in check.
Good luck

hello,im running my aquarium using an undergreavel filter and powerhead at one end,and a homemade internal filter(plastic bottle with holed drilled) with a powerhead (both powerheads are the same make and type) up the other end...the water is clear, but i also have 2 spare internal filters just in case the powerheads fail there in the cupboard under the tank..all ready to go just in case.so getting hold of a spare filter may help you if filter failure happens to you again... good luck.

Whether you get this filter working or buy a new one you'll need to keep an eye on your water stats for a while after its going again.

Without water flowing through the filter the beneficial bacteria will be dying and the tank may go through a mini cycle.

If you buy a new filter remember to transfer as much media from your old filter otherwise you'll go through a completely new cycle.

Cheers

Perhaps something is clogged in your filter?
