What do you have for a filter (GPH)?

Also, do you have water movement in your tank, via a power head, or something equivalent.

Also, is your tank near a window, or in a room that has a lot of natural sunlight that hits the tank.

ive got a ehiem 2213 doing a 70l tank not sure of the gph?

its next to the window but dont get direct sunlight

no power head but ive got an airpump

is it hairy algae?

if so its caused by low flow/CO2

yeah if you look really close its kinda hairy

also the water smells a bit

you shouldnt have flow problems, being in a window doesnt help tbh

but the way the sun rises and sets the light dont directly hit the tank because the rooms in the loft

i will have to maybe chuck a towl over the tank or pin it up at the window while im out
if its hairy algae you may need better flow...are you using a spray bar? if so set it so it isnt slowed down

what i did was face thye spray bar so the water hit the back of the tank so that could be the problem

ive now just put it next to the outlet tube facing so it will push all the water around the tank

Check this site out to see if you can't identify exactly what type of algae it is.

This site will also tell you how to get rid of the algae.
