HELP! :( 15 litre biorb - I know, bad decision.

Hi!

Yeah I knew about waiting a while before shrimps and I was thinking the ghost ones as apparently they are hardier too?

At least I have a plan now for the tank! :)

Hi,

In advance I am really sorry if this has been asked before etc but I am absolutely gutted!!

Bought the biorb was so excited to get a cold water arrangement of minnows, shrimp, snails etc... Turns out I can only have 4 minnows and no shrimp because of the way the biorb is set out...

My friend had a heater for me and I thought a betta would be a good idea with rosbassas (think that's how you spell it) but how many could I fit in healthy?

Please don't get angry at me I would never have bought the biorb if I knew they weren't that good but I'm a first timer. I also can't take it back as it's been totally set up and I haven't got £60+ to chuck away to get a new tank type thing. I would so deeply appreciate any help because if I'm going to do it id like to do it correctly type thing.

Any suggestions cold water/tropical would be massively appreciated!!!

I was so so
Excited and now I just feel so bummed out :(
Replying for anyone coming to this post in future,
I have the 15L BiOrb, I've found that it is actually fine for shrimp, they enjoy climbing into the filter to eat off the sponges, however you can't breed shrimp in it (that's the case for many filter types tho). I wouldn't recommend BiOrb for bettas because of the coarse gravel substrate which is rough on their fins so really consider the risk there. My betta got really damaged from the substrate and unfortunately passed away due to fin rot issues. However, it is not all doom and gloom. Once the tank is settled and quite heavily planted you can have quite a few guppies. I have a mix of fancy and endler guppies that are thriving and one of my girls recently had fry. Snails are good for balancing the tank and algae consumption (cause many bottom feeders have soft bellies that can be harmed by rough substrate). Shrimp are also great cleaners and love to swim around in the tank. The lighting system is great. All I will say is the lid opening is very small and makes it difficult for any modifications or netting.
