Hi
I’m Just about to get back into fish keeping after a break of some thirty five years, well the kids have all grown up and flown the nest so now I have the time and inclination again. In the past I’ve kept freshwater and marine this time I’m determined to stick with freshwater and put as much effort into plants as fish.
Boy haven’t things changed can’t get under gravel filter plates anymore and most tanks don’t seem to be glass sealed into a metal frame with putty, I’m sure I will need plenty of help.

Welcome...or should I say, welcome back. Those metal framed tanks are highly collectible these days. There's many a listing on ebay. I have a 15 gallon adjacent to my desk that I love. And there are threads here about the resurgence of undergravel filters. So as the French say, "plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose!"

Welcome to the forum :hi:

Well, welcome to our forum & welcome back to the hobby...:hi:
We used to have those too. Framed tanks and sealed with putty. My dad always got putty from his work. So, we always had a buffer of it in case we had a leak. The first frameless tank we had was back in 1977. And how proud we were. That was a pretty unique back then. But it made my dad wonder what to do with all that putty that was left.
