I am new here and have a ten gallon fresh water tank that homes 3 red eyed tetra, 1 awesome blue gorumis, and 3 silver dollars. I also have just recentaly obtained a 55 gal to start salt!! I have a question about the private messaging. Are first time users not aloud until they post or is it just an error on my part?

hi and welcome, your PM system is not available until a certian number of posts have been made (not sure on the number) this is to stop spammers :good:

A note on your stocking though, the blue gourami and the silver dollars get way too big for a 10 gal and the tetras need a larger group, in my opinion you would be better off using the 55gal for these fish

Hello and welcome to the forum.

I would also like to add that silver dollars need to be in groups of 6 minimum.

Good morning and welcome! I agree with the above. a 10 gallon is going to be too small for the gourami and silver dollars. They would look awesome in the 55. :good:

Welcome ... your fish will thrive a lot in a much bigger tank and if you are getting the 55gal it will be perfect for them :)

I am either giving away my three tetras to my friend with a bigger tank or moving all them into the 55. Also I am not 100% sure I have silver dollars. The fish store I got them from im pretty sure the tank said pirahanas. They are very small and silver and eat both flake and live food, so im not sure if they are young pirahanas or silvers?

Yikes.

:hyper: Did the lfs tell you it was ok to put pirahanas in a community tank? I'd keep the tetras and gourami and return the "silver dollars" Pirahana and silver dollars look alot alike when small, but there is a very big difference.
