Heater Issue

Glass thermometers are alot better than the stick on ones, which are quite frankly indicative at best.

Yup, I always go by the temperature reading on the glass thermometer. If you have the stick-on type, it's bound to reflect the room temperature, too.

Hi vinylman, didnt think of that but that but your probably right, still havent received my digital one, I will compare when i get it. :good:

The reason you leave a heater in the tank for about a half hour before you plug it in is to let it come to tank temperature. That way the heater coming on and going off, as you can tell by the pilot light, will mean something. If the sensing element is still at room temperature, turning the knob up and down to find the present setting will just result in you setting the heater to room temperature.
I have found that the glass thermometers are more accurate and dependable than the electronic ones. The electronic ones come with a nice easy to read display, but they are not very accurate IME.
