Hi Sorry everyone if i seem to be asking a lot of questions about diffrent topics, just want to get things right, I currently in a Fishless Cycle in my Fluval Edge 23litre and after buying another 25watt heater a few days ago which should be enough for the size of the tank, i seem to be getting the same problem as my non adjustable Edge heater, I have tried to put the heater up to the mid 80's and the temperature is still sitting about 76%, even when i turn the heater up full 94%, it still doesnt go much higher, the tank is in a spare room but the room is heated so its not that cold in there, I have an Edge stick on thermometer on the glass, How ACCURATE are they??????

Do you have a good amount of water circulation in your tank?

I usually put an air stone under the heater to circulate the heat.

The other day on my 55 gallon, I turned the aerator on full (it was on about half) and the temp rose 2 degrees just from the increase of water movement within the tank.

Think these tanks are supposed to be really good circulation, i'm sure someone had mentioned it on a previous thread, do u think a glass thermometer in the tank would be any better? Dont really want to add an airstone as the tank is pretty compact. Thanks fatheadminnow :good:

I use a glass thermometer in all my tanks and never had any issues.

Ive only just bought this tank, I was a teenager when i had my last tank. I will buy a glass one tommorow and compare the temperatures. Thanks

Did you leave it any time to calibrate before you turned it on? Or just plunk it straight in?

No i left it in for 30mins before i turned it on, didint manage to get a glass thermometer yest, will try get in today and get one. Thanks all :good:

What's the reasoning behind needing to do this? I don't understand how leaving a heater for 30 minutes will calibrate it, they are normally just simple thermostats.

Ditto..... It doesn't say any thing on any of the packing etc that came with my heater.
So I assume its a pretty simple thermostat

I just done what other members on the forum said, when setting up your tank you should leave the heater in the tank to let it acclimatise for about 30 mins, dont suppose it would be any harm to switch on right away.

Just because all my heaters instructions say to, thinking about it, it shouldn't make a difference...but why would they mention it? :S

I Have ordered a digital 1 online, so hopefully that will be more accurate. :good:
