My heater for my 125l tank has stopped working suddenly. It was purchased second hand with my tank and all the gear. When I went to look at the filter since it seemed blocked the water was felt very cold. The thermometer panel on the side is showing 25 degrees although I think it's just slow. All my fish have congregated together.

What should I do? It's after 9PM and all stores are closed.

25C waters feel insanely cold, Don't worry. Just wait till the morning. The temp might drop to the lowest of 20c which most fish don't mind. All good.

fill bottles of water with warm hot water NOT BOILING this will melt the bottle :p, and this will keep the tank warm for a small period of time altho you can also turn your heating on and try and keep the room temp to 21 or above that that can help too just try and get a heater tomorrow asap, and get a spare too if you can afford it a spare is always a must

I wouldnt worry, some of my tanks heaters are still are not coming on, and they are stable at 26C. Once you turn out the lights you can cover the tank with a couple of towels or a blanket this will keep the heat in, but a 125l tank wouldnt loose that much heat overnight as its still quite warm.

Keep in mind a backup heater is a good peace of mind

For most common fish we keep 25c is not to cold. I try to keep my tanks at 25/26c for the majority of the time. Having said that you did not say what fish you have in the tank.
