Yeah theres nothing to force a refund on undamaged goods, especially on livestock.

The shop may well take them back and/or agree to an exchange, but it can be a tricky business.

Thats a shame,why dont you see if you could swap them for smaller micro fish...lots of little fish make a colourful display in a smaller tank

I rang the fish shop two days ago and the guy reassured me that they should be okay in 27 litres.

However, since then, the Gourami's have become very lethargic. They sit at the bottom a lot or float around aimlessley in their little territories. Is that their normal behaviour or is something wrong? I think they are being stressed out by the boisterous guppies.

I've contacted the fish shop and I am awaiting a response. I'm not even bothered about having my money back. I may swap them for some cherry shrimp.

I am so disappointed. I spent all this time and money getting the tank right, and all I've done since I bought the fish is stress out about them. Hardly the positive fish keeping experience I was hoping for.

I'll let you know how things progress..

HURRAH!!!

The shop have agreed to take them both back and offer me a full refund for misguiding me. So I'll be happy and hopefully the fish will find a more suitable home!

I'm at a fully stocked capacity, and I am very happy with my guppies. I will post some photos soon...

I may even start shopping for another tank....

I wouldn't expect the shop to admit that they are wrong. The fish will physically fit in the tank and they are a 'dwarf' species to in the shop's eyes I imagine they will be fine.

See if you can take them back for an exchange or even just take them back. If you like gouramis consider swapping them for something teeny like sparkling gouramis or honey gouramis. The dwarfs will get too big and will get aggressive as they mature.

The guppies should be just fine.

Sorry about the hassle you've had. Fish shops don't necesarily outright lie but they often have a very different view of fish stocking and compatibility. They generally allow much less space for the fish, both in terms of the number of fish and the size of tank, and they're generally more oblivious to the social needs of the fish.

EDIT - HUZZAH! Just seen your last posts. Glad you got it sorted. What caused them to back-track?

Well - I spoke to a different person to the one who sold them to me and he actually agreed with me! They shouldn't have been sold to me really, especially as a pair and for my tank size. So he spoke with his supervisor and explained, and she was happy to issue me a refund. He apologised on his colleagues behalf as well. The guy who sold them to me, in his defense, was very busy and kept getting side tracked by other customers so I suggested they have more staff around especially on a busy Saturday.

I was thinking about a Honey Gourami (they are very pretty) but with one of those and 5 guppies am I pushing it stock wise?

I am absolutely in love with my guppies, they are all really different and it's so interesting to watch them interact with eachother!!

i think a honey gourami would be fine in there. Great little gourami's, i would ward away anyone from buying dwarf gouramis as they have been overbred, your lucky if they last a week!

Sounds great, Leanne! I know it sounds kinda silly but I've always wanted a guppy tank! Would love to see photos.
