Have A Snail Question

I wasn't sure where to post this.

I just bought a snail from my LFS. Added it to the tank 2hrs ago and it's still floating.
Is this normal? I know nothing about them so I appologize if a stupid question.

Was it moving when you bought it? I learned the hard way to have the LFS staff grab a snail that is active. I bought a dead one once

iv seen my pest snails floating on the surface of the water. but i dont know if its normal

I don't think it's dead. It was tucked in about 15-20mins ago and now it's out a bit ...
I added it this afternoon around 2pm (5pm now)

I touched it and it sank. I put it in a corner cause I didn't want the fish to bug it. It's still sitting the same way. I turned out the light and will check on it when I go to feed the pleco tonight
