my lfs (pond and aqautic supplies) have started selliing hatch and grow your own fish kits little prepacked boxes with what i think to be from the photos killi fish they give you a option of like 10 species and there 10 pounds per pack is this cheap

and has any one ever seen these before ???

Me too! Ha ha I'm only 27! I watched the instructional video and did think about how many will be bought for kids who will get bored as soon as they've finished 'doing something', shame but such is life.

i bought killifish eggs and the euip off ebay about a year ago, but didnt have the time to devote to rasing them so sent thme onto another member... no idea why they have dressed them up as a novelty item tho

talk to BigC he`ll give you info on wether or not it would be a tenner down the pan or not

It's a bit of a Far East gimmick if you ask me. They are what they are and probably do as they say on the box.
All the contents, I expect, will be filled with plastic (not the eggs lol)
Where the thing falls over, although full instructions would be provided, is that the LFS should be giving advice on which species to pick. I think Shelagh chose N. rachovi and why wouldn't she, they are very brightly coloured rivaling some marine fish. Nothobranchius rachovi fry are very small and its doubtful if the pack contains a small enough live food for to give them as initial food hence their quick demise....Was it a tenner down the drain....you decide.
If it were me I would personally seek out a local breeder or utilize Aquabid as I don't really like this idea of fish marketing, ingenious as it is.
You'll probably get a lot more eggs and better advice.
The choice, as always, is yours to make.
If you are wanting to choose this form of buying Killifish eggs then choose N. guentheri
