I had bad experience a few years ago, One of my small tank left on the bookshelf cracked while i was sleeping, main reason is the board underneath the tank began to bend, although it looks normal from outside, it cause uneven pressure of the bottom glass of tank. I heard the noise of craking, but did not think too much, when i decided to take a look an hour later, the water already leaking on the floor everywhere.

Another one is a new tank i bought a few years back, when i try to fill it up with water, i noticed the front glass begin to bend, i found out the glue is broken, and it become worse and worse.By that time, the 4ft tank is almost full, you can imagine how panic i was...

Has anything like this happened to you before?

once. my 30gal. the seal in the bottom corner went bad and leaked all over my dresser! had to run to lowes to get some marine epoxy to stop the leak until i could get it resealed.

My dad had a three foot crack whilst on a set of drawers. It had been on there a few days until it woke him up in the night with the cracking/leaking noise. God knows what he did, I've never asked for further details on the story.

yes i have!
my sons had a fight in the hallway, and ended up cracking my first tank ( 4ft) i only realised when i asked one what they wanted the sellotape for

thankgoodness i saw him as i was just about to go to bed
i was sooooo mad with them, but fair play they stayed up all night with me sorting the fish, plants and water and replaced the tank :)

i had a betta small vase sitting on my counter with a nice beta in it with a plant in it and we all were sitting around about this time last year actually, sitting around watching Christmas movies and then we heard a tick and a smash and a broken vase,we are still unsure why it "cracked"

sellotape? LOL, they are so cute, that really brings smile on my face, thx.

haha I was thinking the same thing - "oh no! run! you said you had a betta in a small vase - they are COMING!" I learned so much more about acceptable betta tanks from this forum - its so amazing how much wrong information is becoming "common knowledge" in terms of fish keeping - "betta vases" and "goldfish bowls" are just two examples - I have tried to correct people on these and they think I am nuts
I cant even count how many times I have heard "what are you talking about?! these tanks are fine for betta/goldfish - they live so long for me - atleast 8 months before they get old and die!!!"
When you try to explain that bettas should live about 4-7 and goldfish about 20, they stare at you like you belong in a straightjacket!

and....i just hijacked the thread, huh?...

ok well...hmm....oh! my mom's 55 gallon bow MARINE tank cracked a couple years ago - she called me at 2 am to help her catch the fish, put them in temp buckets with heaters etc, and try and save as much of the tank water as possible until the store opened in the am then we had the long process of setting up the tank again

I've had two 30s that have leaked and got a 90 gallon that a friend had that leaked. Getting ready to try and reseal the tank again
