Harlequin Rasbora In 55L

Hi all. How many "HR's" do you think I could stock in a 55 liter tank? It is planted and "over-filtered" by an Eheim 2213

I find that they enjoy quite a bit of room due to their activity levels. A 55L might not offer them the kind of space they need, but that's a personal opinion.

well that's the thing, they really need to be in groups of 6+ and that is what BBA was alluding to.

Neon tetra would be a better choice, they aren't as active as harlequins.

I would not put any Harlequin Rasboras in a tank like that, unless they were youngsters or needed quarantining for a few weeks after buying.

Long term, I would personally feel ok with them in a 3-foot tank or longer, ideally in a nice big schoal of 10+.

What about some smaller fish, like ember tetras or microrasbora? I'm sure you'd be able to have a nice group of these and some pygmy cories, for example, in a 55L.

Rasboras are awesome schoolers. They zipped back and forth in my 4 foot like crazy. I wouldn't think they would have enough room in a 55l to really swim back and forth. There are some types of tetra that don't shoal like that, and they could work.

i would love some microrasbora galaxys, but due to living in a small rural town, i'm very limited to what i can actually get

my lfs tends to have common fish like guppies, neons, hr's, danios, mollies and the likes

ive thought out ordering online but cant say im confident about them getting thrown around in the post, also if they turn up dead i'd imagine getting replacements is a pain

how many galaxys do you u think i could get in my tank if i was to order some? also do u have any site recommendations to buy from?

I mail order most of my fish and most places like the one I use has a "live on arrival" guarentee

If you just went with those, I reckon you'd easily be able to get 15 odd in there, though that's at a guess so I wouldn't quote me on it too much

They are sent via live carrier and most places have something in place for DOA
