Hard Decision, Sold All My Fishes.

Friends when i wake up this morning,i saw my male molly not having his eye.


It was a very big shock, I was very much hurted,i was takeing a great care of them, so much that even my studies were affected.

so i just pack all my fishes(6 mollies, 5 tetra, 3 tiger), and sold them at my LFS.

But kept the male who lost his eye, as he is now my responsibility for the rest of life, and i will take care of him.

But at the store the incharge said he can give some other fish in exchange of them, as he will earn more with that, so i bought 6 Goldfish.
And kept them with one molly.

And in other Tank i had 40 Fry.

May be no usefull information,But have a deep urge from inside that i should tell all of what happened to me.

Aww Alind.sorry to hear about your molly and that you sold your fish...

Just a bit of worse news for you my friend,you can't really put 6 goldfish together in your small tank,they grow to big,1 goldfish needs minimum 20 gal tank,2 goldfish pushing it at 30 gals.
They really are pond fish-sorry to be the bearer of bad news

Perhaps the lfs has more friendly fish like small tetras or corys that would be more suitable,

It was probably the tiger barbs that hurt your molly,the are very aggressive fish and usually kept in a large group to spread out their aggression.

And without your guidence i'll end up with much more chaos.

I was very much attached with my fishes they were part of my family.
But i am a Brahmin(Hindu) and have'nt kill an ant in my home,so how could i let fishes eat them selves in my home.

Over all a very stress full day!!

Keep an eye on your water stats,goldfish are very messy fish and will pollute your water in no time.

Do you have a heater in your tank? has goldfish are coldwater fish and mollies are tropical fish.

Sorry to hear about your molly.
i recently had a swordtail thats entire tailfin and part of his spinal fin was ripped off. its hard to deall with but grows a closer bond with that fish.

um good call on taking all the fish but the molly back but bad news....goldfish are only compatible with koi and only koi.
this is because goldfish and other fish have different needs AKA water levels and temperatures. if you notice progress in your molly then you can get other fish. (please take back the goldfish).

Yes Mam i have a thermostat heater,which set on 28[sup]o[/sup]C.

And can be set between 22 to 32[sup]o[/sup]C.

but i bought my mollies back, i was missing them alot and i was feeling bad about selling them.
so i bought my 2 mollies back ,
Now 6 GoldFish And 3 Mollies.


I know i am failed here, in taking decision on my fish.

At that point you should have returned the goldfish. You now have a heated aquarium with mollies and the 6 goldfish, and may end up in a worse situation than you started with.

You may not hurt an ant, but this does not look great for the fish ;-)

But just a single question i want to ask,
Wont it work with a feasible temperature ?
say 24[sup]o[/sup]C !

Or i will put the goldfish and mollies in seperate tank,One hot and another cold.

I think the temperature is the least of you worries. Unless your profile is outdated, you have 6 goldfish and 3 mollies in a 7 gallon tank. You have been advised to take the goldfish back by another member.

It still won't work putting the goldfish in another tank,your tank is too small for even 1 goldfish,let alone 6, The fish will suffer from being in a small tank.

Why don't you take the goldfish back,explain to your lfs your tank is not big enough and get a list of what he's got for sale and maybe we can help & advise you to choose what is suitable for your tank and that will live with your mollies

Lfs will sell anything to customers with little information that is believable,to them its more money...

You are not failing,we have all been there at the beginning

Alind, try to take the goldfish back, and don't kick yourself, you never meant for anything to happen to your mollies.

okay friends, i am going to return my goldfish as you said,
but please don't make an opinion about me because here i had seen and been adviced alot to keep goldfish for my tank,
but i know you all are much more expert and have a deep knowlege and experiance.

So i follow what you say blindly.

so please suggest me what should i take in exchange of these goldfishes ??
And
If at LFS they refuse to take back the fishes,as they belive gold fish can even live happy in a coffee mug!, then what can i do with my goldfishes,can i put them in water tank of my home ?
If this sound annoying,let me clear that was also an idea from someone,not mine.

I was feeling like i have lost my decision taking power,but when i look at the whole stuff, it is actually i was pulled from both sides,my local people and my international friends.

Hi Alind

I for one don't make opinions about you,and i'm sure others don't neither.

We can only advise you on the information we have learnt along the way,

Now hopefully the lfs will take the goldfish back,why don't you get some guppies or platies,these are also livebearers like the mollies,so you will probably end up with more babies ,unless you get all males,or male endlers are very pretty,unsure if they sell them in india,or small tetras,like neons or ember tetras are cute.

Try to stay away from any barb fish has these tend to be aggressive.

Can you remember what fish your lfs had?

i wouldn't put them in your water tank ,has this will pollute the water for your home.. you could always put a pond in the garden
