Hand Feeding A Fire Eel

My LFS has fire eels for £6 each, so cute and then I remembered that they get Big

I was browsing youtube and found this video of a fire eel being hand feed and I just had to share it!

awww thanksya..i LOVE him..he's getting moved over into his new home hopefully within the month I just wanted to keep him in the 55 gallon until he grew some more

A nice video, but it always makes me shudder when people stick their bare hands into their tanks with their electrics on.



Sure the chances might be small, but even so if you stick your bare hands into the water and your heater, filter or pump develops an electrical fault unbeknown to you, then the results could be shocking quite literally!

I used to feed my 21 inch fire eel when he was alive, such goodfish to hand feed and it makes sure they get there quota

same with any other animal, time and patience you have to get them use to your hand being there, like i do with my rats. Put your hand in, let them get your sent, let them come to you etc

Although, my rats have left me with some nasty bites

Well my guy(the smaller one) isn't even a year old yet so...I've had him for about...5 months or so?...I just put him in the 55 to grow and mature a little before moving him over...
I think a lot of it has to do with hwo comfortable they feel..and the tank is in the living room..and my house is open concept so..he's constantly able to see me cooking,eating,watching tv..ect..he pretty much watchs tv with me haha..hes very cool

Can't wait till he gets to the size of the first guy!ahh...haha
