I would have said a group of females and one or two males. Being a livebearer they don't think about much besides sex and fighting. Too many males could hassle the females. Not enough males and they sometimes spend all their time arguing and ignore the girls. Silly bloody fish (shaking head)
They will breed when about 2 inches long. And you can't have too many plants. They love eating their own young so the more plants you have the more likely some of the fry will survive long enough to be caught out and moved somewhere safe.
