Hades X Hope Spawning 2/2/2012

Bit late but I was unsure till Thursday what had happened...
So take Hades,

And Hope...

Condition them for 2 weeks on Bloodworm, add Hope to a breeding 'Chimney' for a day/night, Release Hope the next morning and keep a close eye on them.

Wait for a few days and... Babies! Remove Hope as dad was attacking her.
I can't get pictures of the babies as they are still tiny. My guess is that they hatched late or mum and dad re-bred as they only hatched on the 6th/7th Feb and the eggs were layed on the 2nd Feb.
I'll get pictures as soon as I can and they are currently feeding on Lobster Eggs, I have seen them eating them and they have little stomachs on them.

Thank you, I really thought there were no eggs in the nest as I couldn't see any but there must have been!

Yes it is. Hades has his name for a reason because he shredded Hope's fins during courtship. Luckily her fins have quite a lot of re-growth already because of clean water and a high quality diet. I actually got 2 new females recently but I cant get pictures yet as the are hiding.
I'm thinking of making a Guide To Breeding Betta Splendens if there isn't one already but I'm not sure... I may try when I have time...

He was actually fine with her until he had fry, that's when he started on her. He even let her help with the eggs that I never saw. I was watching for aggression the whole time she was in there and Hades did not touch her fins any more than the damage he had already done until the fry were free swimming. It was magical... Male and Female working in harmony to look after the eggs and the wrigglers.
