Up until the weekend, he seemed fairly placid, then over the last few days, my Oscar has had her tail fins ripped to shreds and was very submissive towards the GT. I'd hoped they would get over it, but then yesterday I noticed my large severum, who the GT has always been scared of and submissive with, wasnt about, wouldnt come up for food or anything, so I did a water change thinking this might move him, all hell broke loose, the GT was very aggressive towards him, to the point of chasing him relentlessly, the severum was banging into all the sides of the tank trying to get away, if he tried to move from under some wood, the GT went beserk. I took out the decor/plants and re-arranged to try to help, but it seemed to make it worse, this morning, the severum had large cuts on his body and fins and I could see that the GT would eventually kill him, so I had to choose, as much as I liked the GT, no way is my gorgeous severum going anywhere.
So called a local LFS, who agreed to take the GT (into a seperate tank alone). Ive told them to warn anyone who buys him that his is now becoming aggressive (at 8" expected) and Im sure he will get a good home soon. I trust them as they know what they are doing.
I was only out for 30 minutes, Ive come home to my severum having a new lease of life, he is turning cartwheels all over the tank and looks so much happier, so is my Oscar, best decision I think.
Really shows that an aggressive natured fish really can turn overnight and how closely you need to watch these fish.
