Guppy Is Acting Very Odd.

She finally dropped on the 29th. I didn't get to see them born just woke up to fry in the tank! I noticed when I woke up she looked much much more slimmer, so I looked around for the babies and found them. I transferred them to the 1.5 gallon tank, 11 healthy fry in total. She is currently resting in the same tank she has been in. I plan to return her with the others later today.

Thanks! I was so over joyed when I saw the fry! Mainly because they are my first ^_^ Do you think finely crushed flake food will be fine for them? I heard brine shrimp helps them grow better and faster is this true?

Baby brine shrimp is fine occasionally (some people feed this exclusively) but I mostly feed mine ground flakes. It needs to be tiny to fit in their mouths!

Ok thanks for the tip:) I think I may just stick to the flake food. I crush the flakes very very finely for the fry, and make sure to watch to see if they are eating and if they can eat the flakes I crush for them. So far none of the fry have died, so I'm really happy about that as well. Now I have to wait for my other female who is starting to gain weight, I won't be watching her as diligently because I have finally got to experience having my first batch fry:)

Sorry I'm rambling! But thank you very much for helping me along until I had my fry!

Very fine flake food is great for them. They will eat it and thrive. If you want very fast growth, BBS is an even better food for that. Unless you are set up to feed BBS, it can be a bit of a pain just to support a single fry drop. I have enough fry at any one time to consume all of the BBS that I can produce but I seldom bother with it just to get the slightly faster growth that it will give me.

All my fry have been raised on ground flake food and the oldest are healthy and robust. Not to mention beautiful!!

Yes, I wanted to get them to grow faster but Im sure it will be hard to maintain baby brine for only the 11 fry I need. Wish I could!
