Guppy Fry

I found my daughters 1st fish tank in the garage. It is only a small thing take a peep:

The wife will let me put the guppy fry in here so I set this up but will not let me set up the 28l The filter is very strong for a little filter so I was wondering do I actually need to have the filter on all the time or can I put this on sporadically? Or should I buy a little filter sponge?

Filter should be running all the time I do belive. Little sponge filters do well for fry tanks

Pets at home do a small air driven filter for about £5 or just over I think. Providing you have a spare air pump they're excellent. Could you bot face the filters outlet onto the glass or something? Also if you add a denser sponge inside the filter then this should slow the flow...

I used these when my goldfish fry were very small. Very gentle air driven filter, bubbles out at the surface. You don't need to change them quite as often as stated on packet. Cartridges available separately if you already have a pump and airline tubing.

Guppy fry are pretty resilient though. You say the filter in the tank is too high, have you seen them struggling against it? I have a strong current in my tank and the guppy fry seem to be growing ok. If you have some plants or similar to break up the current slightly it might be ok as it is.
