I posted yesterday about the problem with the penguin tetras and zebra danios as they were chasing around my guppies and I notice there was a HUGE bite in one of the fish.. I took the three culprits back this morning, or so I thought!

What type of fish is this? (above) I was thinking it was a glass danios but I can't find that species on google...

beacuse when i came home i bought back two female fighters, the manager at the pet store told me they were safe ( I purchased two) with the fish I had.. so that was all well and I looked in my tank about an hour later after introducing them and one of my guppies was swimming near the filter and was stuck to the suction bit, I've had to take him out of the tank as he's completely lifeless with nips in his fins and there's also another guppy in my tank who has a nipped tail fin :(

Im just wondering if it's those glass danios(?) that are doing this?

I don't think it's the two female fighters, I've watched them for a while and they seem very peaceful.

Please help, I'm afraid all of my fish are going to be destroyed by the end of the week!

If it helps I have 1 plec, 5 guppies, 2 gouramis, 2 clown loaches, 10 neon tetras & 2 female fighers (introducted today).

Guppies and bettas are generally not a good mix. The bettas see the ornate fins and colors as another betta and will attack. I'm not certain about female bettas though.

As for the type fish, it looks to be some type tetra but I'm not very good at IDing fish that I don't keep.

Edit: After doing a search, it looks like a bloodfin tetra.

it looks like the bloodfin tetra can be aggressive "They are compatible with fish of similar size but may nip fins of slow moving small fish such as neons. " which is most probably why my guppy died. I am a bit concerned leaving them in overnight but I have no choice at the moment..

So the two female bettas won't get on with the guppies?

I'm not sure what to do now..

I wish they told you more at these pet shops!!!

Since they are females, they may be ok as they are not as aggressive as the males. You might want to ask in the Betta Forum. I'm not real familiar with the bloodfins but I couldn't find anything that said they were aggressive. Here is the forum profile on them.

As for the bad advice (or lack of advice) from the LFS, unfortunately, it's more the norm than the exception. I read something recently that said that morefish had probably died as a result of bad advice from the fish store than any other reason and I would tend to agree.
