my guppy has a gravid spot and is looking kindof fat and has been this way for about a month now. sometimes when i wake up in the morning her gravid spot turns red and then black agian, is this normal? :S

Every time i have seen gravid spot turns red.
That means she will die in a few days.

But never know it to turn back to black?

Doe's not sound good.

she should have fry very soon.
But if it stays red she should have fry very soon and then die.

Keep us posted.

sounds like she will drop very soon! move her into a breeding net and hope for the best. It is normal for the gravid spot to change from red to black, that is just the babies in her stomach moving around.

I don't know. :dunno:
But every time i have seen the gravid spot turns red she dies.

This has happen 2 time..

i bought a breeding net and put her in it and nothing heppened for about 2 days so i put her back in the tank and she is getting very fat and her gravid spot is big and black. Hopefully the babies will come soon. Is there any other signs of when she will drop?

thanks

my females stay on the ground (gravel) or in a corner of the tank before having fry.
Thay also stop eating.
When thay stop eating put her in the breeding net.
but is's very hard to tell when thay are going to have fry.
I have also been waiting for one of my guppys to have fry for 3 days now.
But I am going to let her have them in the main tank.
To see how many fry live.

wait til she is hding in the plants all the time and acting strange when you move towards the tank (like hiding) and when she stops eating the babies within 24 hours for ya
