Guppies Giveaway

I was planning to buy guppies from petsmart or petco, but I heard that my relative has guppies and had lots of frys so theyre giving away some guppies for me, however their aquarium isn't the cleanest aquarium in the block, the tank is a bit greeny for some reason, should I get their guppies? If yes suggest a few things to look for in choosing them plz thank you

They should be fine, the green is probably algae, go for the specimens which look the healthiest, good finage with no splits or tears, no signs of disease, they should be able to swim well and obviously if you don't want them to breed go for all males.

But will the guppy adapt to my tank's environment quick enough before it dies from fighting with my guppy or from the new environment

It will adapt perfectly well as long as the parameters are acceptable and you acclimatise properly, why should it die from fighting with your Guppy? Ideally you should have at least 4 in order to spread aggression amongst individuals, that way one individual shouldn't be continually picked on.

Well I heard when a new guppy from a different tank is introduced, the guppies may get a little aggressive for a minute or two so I'm just worried.

A few minutes of aggression should cause no problems, but personally I have never experienced what you have heard.

I have friends acting stupid make their guppies fight together, they get like a straw and tickle the two's tails and they start flipping tails at each other and one start chasing another
