Hi all here are some pics of the Guppies I have been breeding for approx 6 years I have been working towards a nice blue colour hope you enjoy the pics, been working towards a blue that has that really WOW factor for all to see.....

oh I'm on here using my Wifes proflie dont tell herMy link

Yep I do sell them but only locally so far by the way I'm in Australia

The pet shops usually only want to pay $1 each (or less

) but happily sell them for closer to $6 (making out that they have paid transport costs) but privately I get around $2 each but mostly that is to people that know us and have been bugging us for Blues. Right now we SERIOUSLY need to down size on the girls and some of the boys. And even the girls have colour so much so alot of people have trouble sexing our boys and girls

Lovely blue boys you got there, would be nice to see some pics of the girls too :) i managed to breed some beautiful colourful females too and had the same problem with sexing them

Am going to try get some up dated photos of the guppies but the #41#### things don't like to co-operate by staying still

We also breed Corydoras, bristle noses, cherry shrimp and gold fish. And then there is the birds.......
I have also been breeding some mostly black guppies and it is only when you see them in light you can see that they are not a mat black but a full metalic dark blue or green. Beautiful to see in the flesh (scales to be precise) but I'm not sure they will show up so well on camera. Basically these blacks are techniqually rejects as the blue we are aiming for is the deep electric blue of a Siamese fighter. And funnily

enough I do have a handy blue fighter that I compare my possible blue breeding males against.

Beautiful fish you have there Baccus. I would love to get my hands on that color to improve the colors of my breeding colony but I have not seen them locally. Have you tried joining your local fish club? I find that my best fish do well in club auctions even though my LFS won't give me much for my fish. I even sell fish at neighboring club auctions because prices there are far better than LFS prices. Most clubs do not require you to be a member to sell fish at their auctions. Instead they will take a percentage of the proceeds as a club percentage, since the clubs use these sales to fund paying their speakers and similar costs.

Thanks

for the tip on fish club auctions but I'm not sure if we have any fish clubs in the area, can't say I have heard anyone talking about them anyway

(even bird clubs are hard to track down). And yep we are pretty proud
rolleyes.gif
of their colour, I guess we fluked it back when we carefully chose our first blue boy and blue girls and then stuck to the plan of taking out all who don't reach the requirements.

Managed to get some more pics of the boys and a few of the girls.

Had to con them with some food to get them remotely close together instead of darting all over the place

Queensland, Central to narrow it down a bit and even closer Rockhampton. A fish club would be great especially in the swapping, and selling of excess fish but also for the trading of information.
