NEMO!!! hehe the shop had 3 TRUE AMPHIRPION PERCULA in stock i couldnt resist so i grabbed 2 for my tank today :). 12 hours on and they are veracious eaters and there hasnt been a single problem :). they happily swim back and forth and inbetween the live rock yey. Im getting an anenome for them to live in on thuresday as they had no stock apart from the ones which were closed due to meds so yeah. but come thuresday i have pickings of a shipment of 50 coming in hopefully. gonna have to stake the shop out HEHE. IM SO EXCITED they are doing so well and look so beautiful. i dont have to go diving 3 houres up the coast now to see them HEHE :)

give me 10 minutes and ill bring up a video :). not very good, my camera is meant for underwater photoes now through glass, ill have to crank out the housing sometime hehe

AND WITHOUT FURTHER A DO I GIVE YOU MY 2 SUPER COOL NEMO'S!!!! - their anenome which they get on thuresday, if their good, im thinking of placing it in the center of the big fan like live rock!!! not sure yet going to find out wheres best at LFS.

now just wondering, can anyone tell if these have taken sex yet? and if so because they seem about the same size if they are both females, would one be able to become a male? i know males can become females but im hoping in case they already sexed to females can they go the other way to when i get my anenome? im sure they havent taken sex yet as one would be alot bigger like 3 or 4X the size right?

oh btw yes hehe that was me changing from 4 globes to 2 half way through to try and get the blue effectively on camera, didnt work to well!

i also have a large community of cichlids in my 4ft in my room, but my 2 babies i brought home today just make me swoon, they are so beautiful!!! love them so much and im so happy they are doing well. do you think they are looking happy? :) well they will be when i get their anenome on thuresday hehe, gona try to find the biggest one possible and most beautiful out of the shipment

not to bad for 2 weeks cycled and 2 weeks with damsels hehe :).

oh one question. im worried they might jump out as ive heard this is possible, im plannin on getting some lids tommorrow, im going to put a large mirror which fits snuggly over the top, and cover any exit points. just wonding is there any problems with like air and that getting in? i guess the water stays oxygenated via the sump anyway just want to know if theres anything bad bout covering the whole tank top? stupid i know there isnt but just checking hehe

you only cycled for 2 weeks?! i did 4 weeks with ammonia then added clean up crew then 4 weeks later added fish. i have 2 clowns smae as yours 3 yellowtailed blue damsels . a false gamma

yeap no my tank cycled in a week and a half and the shop checked it all. i had yellow tail damsel, blue damsel who died of bullying from yellowtail, a yellow and black damsel and a silverish yellow angel damsel for 2 1/2 weeks and today they tested my water again and said yeap time for more fishies :) and after looking round, these guys were mine :).

ive just turned the main light off and put the glass sheet over the top and covered the pump area with a towel so no escape routes, they seem to be sitting off to the side which is ok, but their swimming up and down with thier heads, kinda like nodding, is this normal? my intake just slippsed off from the outake bar which has little holes releasing water into the tank creating a massive surge of water, i guess i might have created a lil current that hasnt gone away yet maybe?

theres nothing wrong with covering up all gaps is there? on the top

Your tank is not ready for an anenome which could live a hundred or more years (people actually don't know how long they live, some have said they may even be immortal in the wild) - please, please do some research. Clowns don't NEED an anenome, many live happily without hosting in anything (although some say they are more likely to suffer illness if they do not host) - if you would like the experience of Clowns hosting please research some alternatives, as there are many :good:

Ps

there are several very good threads on TFF for you to read and I believe a 'sticky'

well my lfs seemed to think my tank was fine for an anenomy and they've shown more then enough caution when it comes to adding stuff. ill ask them about concern but im not sure what you mean by not ready? the tank is cycled, the protein skimmer is operational and all the gunk from original setup has been skimmed out ages ago. theyve already given me the information on liquide food etc. in what terms do you mean the tanks not ready?

i am aware they don't need an anenomy by id like to add one as a home as ive bought these with the intention of them pairing up!

if your refering to tank stability of conditions, i dont think therell be a problem but yeah might ask the shop but as i said they are very knowledgable on their marine and they haven't steered me wrong so fare, they showed me through what they had today but i wasnt really interested as most were little more then a 20Cent piece so i said id come back on thuresday and have a look.

doubt they'd give me good advice by saying tanks to young for a bird mouth wrasse then the same person take me round the anenomies after buying clowns and showing me a few then telling me to come on thuresday when more come in. duno will look into it though.

thnx for the caution :)

please research before getting an anemone.

what you need, a stable system 6 months - a year maturity, metal halides, and a closed loop system.

they should eb left in the wild and seffieuk ive heard that anemones show no physical signs of aging so in theory could live together but usually sucum to diesease, predtation or people believing nemo would love something nemo will probably never of seen before .... (tank bred clownfish wont have seen an anemone) they will host a wide range of things, its not a neccesity, i just hope one day these cratures will be left alone in the wild :)

All of the above.

Alternatives to an anemone I've heard are Star Polyps or Hammer Corals.

But you need to make sure you can support them too.

if a nem dies and you dont notice it can effect the water conditions so much everything in the tank will die

PS the clowns are really nice, and yes they do luck happy.
