Grumpy Cobalt Blue

Yesterday I had a clear out in my Malawi tank. I have always had plants in it, but want it to look more like their natural habitat. So, on removing the plants I took the opportunity for a bit of a re-shuffle!!

Today I have one angry and disgruntled Colbalt Blue Zebra who is currently in the process of having a tantrum and blowing sand over the tank. He is burrowing and I now have a 4" mound of sand at the front of the tank. He must be exhausted cos he's been doing it for over an hour now!!!

Took some pics and here they are. Bit blurry, but you'll get the idea.

I thought it was amusing anyway.

I did a similar thing with my Mbuna tank the other week (re-arranging) and my monster male Lombardoi just kept attacking my hand, it was really funny.

i have the same fish i think (it was labelled blue zebra in the lfs but not sure) and im rearranging the tank today wonder if he'll spit the dummy?that is so funny

Those are some really great pictures.. I have crushed coral and everytime i used to clean the tank i would have my female Auratus who was about 4 years old used to rearrange the tank to her liking.. Its very ammusing.. Those pictures are great..

that is very normal behavior of mature fish.my zebras an lab burrow underneath the slate or any thing they can.they tend to cover everything in sand.just unplug ur filter and brush it off.then move the pile of sand where ever u want.he is making a cave for himself as a retreat or a place to spawn with females.he will regularly visit his shelter and will defend it.

my boss fish is a maylandia greshakei and he is constantly doing this.his only mission in life is to mess up the tank lol
