Green Water From Food?

I had a skiing trip today and left last night...so I put in "green muscle pellets" for my fish..I put in extra since I'd be away today and now the water is green when I came home...is this possibly from dyes in the pellets?

wow... how many did you put in?
is the tank getting any direct sunlight? could it be algae?

The green colour appeared overnight, it isnt in direct sunlight...I actually put in too much I think....

fish can go a few weeks with out food...it is always better to fast your fish when you are away than over feeding them before you leave - your fish are still only able to eat a certain amount at a time and the extra food just sits in the water and begins to dissolve and rot. I recommend testing your water and beginning water changes to get all the excess food debris out of the tank!
