Green Dirt On My Glass?

Well i am currently cycling 2 tanks, and I have noticed on the smaller tank on the inside there is kind of green dirt on the glass.
how do i remove this and is this good or bad?

it is algae. Either green spot algae (GSA) or green dust algae (GDA) Take alook at the guide in my sig for an ID and we can help further.

Although you say you are cycling so i am 99% sure it is the ammonia that has triggered the outbreak. Are you running the lights? Fishless cycle are best done in the dark to prevent any algae growth

I have my tank lights on thoughout the day - Would an algea eater sort this problem once the tank is cycled

its green dust algea.

light + ammonia = algae

Do you have live plants? if not why run the lights when there is nothing to see? its a waste of electricity & money

it should eventually clear on its own, just keep cleaning it off, and follow up with a 50% water chnage to remove any floating algae particles

get a magnetic cleaner,its easy to take off and cut down the amount of time ur lights are on

Don't get an algae eater to sort algae - find out whats causing the algae and stop it. Aaron will see you right on that front.
