Gourami's Fighting?

We bought a male dwarf gourami today and when we put it in our tank our female pearl gourami started chasing and nipping at its tail so we separated them for a few hours and when we let the pearl gourami out again she started doing the same.

Is this normal??

Unfortunately gourami's dont get along with each other. You might want to return the male (especially since he's more prone to illness than the female).
