OK, so I want a betta. LFS is hopefully acquiring some female bettas soon. I've heard these are better in a community than males, plus they're quite difficult to get your hands on, so I'm considering buying one.

Question - do females share the males' dislike for gouramis? Would putting a female betta in with my gouramis be asking for a punch-up?

I would watch the female betta with your gouramis , they may get along fine , be ready to seperate , and it really isn't a good idea to keep gold fish [ shubunkin]with tropicals .

my female has gotten on fine with my gouramis
the fembetta is very passive though... not agressive at all.

Ok thanks.

And by the way, the shubunkin's been fine to 2 years he's been in there.....he is eventually destined for an outdoor pond, I'm just "growing" him in there....
